5 Day Advanced Clinical Assessment Skills Workshop

This workshop is aimed at nurses and others wishing to develop history-taking and physical assessment skills. It offers the opportunity to develop basic top to toe physical examination skills in a comprehensive five-day workshop.

• These courses are now run exlusively in-house by arrangement with Practitioners Associates Ltd

• All Tutors are experienced nurse practitioner lecturers

• All Delegates receive a full skills workshop manual

Aims and outcomes

On completion of this workshop, participants will:

be confident to take a comprehensive health history from a patient
understand the techniques of physical assessment
correctly use physical examination techniques
perform a top to toe physical examination.

Course Programme
Day one:

history taking, review of systems
documentation
examination of skin, hair and nails
examination of face, neck, ear, nose and throat
demonstration and practice

Day two:

eye assessment
neurological assessment
demonstration and practice.

Day three:

respiratory assessment
abdominal assessment
cardiovascular and peripheral vascular assessment
demonstration and practice.

Day four:

musculoskeletal assessment
top to toe examination
demonstration and practice

Day five:

top to toe examinations
individual assessments
